Installation on PDAs

Prerequisites

You need the .NET Compact Framework 2.0. If you device comes without the framework pre-installed, you can download the current version:

Connect your PDA to the computer and run the setup. Follow all instructions. ActiveSync should deploy the Compact Framework automatically.

If you don't want to connect you PDA, you can manually copy the installation files. Once you completed the installation they become available in C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v2.0\WindowsCE\wce400 for PocketPC 2003 and in C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v2.0\WindowsCE\wce500 for Windows Mobile 5.0. Within this directory you have to pick the correct folder depending on the CPU in your device. Copy the CAB file to your PDA and run it. This installs the Compact Framework on your device.

You only need to install the Compact Framework once.
